An update has emerged on a potential WWE signing, with a new sign that they’re set to officially join the company soon.
It was reported in May that WWE was closing in on signing three names who attended the European tryouts back in March; Zozaya, Aigle Blanc and Mike D Vecchio.
With Zozaya recently bidding farewell to RevPro following his match at their 13 Year Anniversary Show in London, another expected WWE signing appears to have said goodbye at a different UK-based promotion.
During Monday’s (August 25) PROGRESS Wrestling Chapter 183: Hundred Volts show, D Vecchio dropped his PROGRESS Atlas Championship in a three-way match against Will Kroos and new champion Gene Munny.
Following the match, D Vecchio received a standing ovation from fans. PROGRESS Wrestling indicated that this was a farewell appearance, sharing the following on social media:
“In what could be his final PROGRESS match for the foreseeable future, Mike D gets a standing ovation from the fans…”
According to Fightful Select in a report shared in May, the belief within WWE was that any talent signed from WWE’s European tryout would be beginning with the company in September.
PWInsider’s report from May indicated that WWE was putting a lot of attention into international recruitment, and that there had been talk internally about lining things up to finally launch NXT Europe.
We will continue to provide updates on these potential WWE signings as they become available.
