Tuesday is a big day for the New England Patriots — and every NFL team, for that matter.
The Patriots must trim their roster to 53 by 4 p.m. ET. They also can place up to two players on injured reserve with designations to return during the season. Those players wouldn’t take one of the 53 spots; prior to the 2024 campaign, teams either had to place players on IR before the cutdown, thus ending their season, or include them on the initial 53-man roster before putting them on in-season IR before Week 1.
