The England under-16 beach soccer team, predominantly made up of Isle of Wight players, completed an undefeated run to win the International Beach Soccer Cup in Porto.

The U16 Talent Pathway Team brought home the international trophy, beating Portugal’s ACD O Sotao by eight goals to one in the final on Sunday, August 24.

Isle of Wight player Ashton Cox was handed the most valuable player of the tournament as he topped the scoring charts.

Seven of the 12 players in the winning squad are from the Isle of Wight – Bobby Humber, Luca Brihmani, Milo Pike, Euan St John-Biggs, Dylan Wightwick, Ashton Cox and Oliver Flood.

In the final, England went 3-0 up in the first period, and doubled their tally in the second period.

The national side cruised to victory, scoring two further goals in the final period to make it 8-1 and secure the trophy.
