Edmonton Oilers fans who have closely looked over the 2025-26 season schedule may have noticed some recent changes.
The Oilers, who will begin their season at Rogers Place on Oct. 8 versus the Calgary Flames, had a number of their games changed. While the opponents and game days will remain the same, the NHLPR announced that six of the start times of their games have been changed. Here’s a look at the new times of those six outings.
Oct. 16 vs. New York Islanders: 5 p.m. MDT (originally 5:30)
Nov. 13 vs. Columbus Blue Jackets: 5:30 p.m. MDT (originally 5)
Nov. 20 vs. Tampa Bay Lightning: 5:30 p.m. MDT (originally 5)
Dec. 16 vs. Pittsburgh Penguins: 5:30 p.m. MDT (originally 5)
March 24 vs. Utah Mammoth: 7:30 p.m. MDT (originally 7)
April 8 vs. San Jose Sharks: 8 p.m. MDT (originally 8:30)
It wasn’t just the Oilers and their respective opponents who had some of their game times switched, either. In total, the NHL changed the start time of 51 outings, the vast majority of which changed by only 30 minutes.
The NHL today announced start time changes for a number of 2025-26 regular-season games.

What led to this decision is unclear, though it may have been made in an effort to accommodate TV rightsholders’ schedules. Regardless, it’s a change the majority of Oilers fans will be more than OK with, as three of the games scheduled for 5 p.m. MDT have been pushed back by 30 minutes. This is a nice break for those who work a standard nine-to-five job, as it should give them enough time to make it home for the opening puck drop.
Three of the Oilers’ 82 games this coming season will be broadcast on Prime Video’s Monday Night Hockey, while the others can all be watched on Sportsnet.
