Sinner needed just over two hours to book his spot in the third round.

The No. 1 seed and reigning men’s singles champion hasn’t lost more than three games in a set so far through two rounds.

The Italian should face a bit of a tougher matchup in the third round against No. 27 seed Denis Shapovalov. Sinner could face American No. 14 seed Tommy Paul in the fourth round.

Swiss qualifier Leandro Riedi produced one of Thursday’s biggest upset, as he rallied back from two sets down to defeat No. 19 seed Francisco Cerundolo.

Riedi’s third-round opponent, Kamil Majchrzak, took down No. 9 seed Karen Khachanov in five sets. The unseeded player from Poland came back from two sets down to spring the upset.

The pair of upsets and the withdrawal of No. 5 seed Jack Draper opened up the top half of the draw for Sinner and No. 3 seed Alexander Zverev.

Zverev picked up a straight-set victory on Thursday night over Jacob Fearnley.

Zverev and Sinner, who both haven’t lost a set through two rounds, are likely headed for a semifinal showdown.
