Manny Pacquiao continues to be linked to a showdown with Rolly Romero.

The Filipino icon made a sensational return to the sport at the age of 46 in July, when he challenged WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Many people felt Pacquiao had done enough on the night to once again become champion, but in the end the bout was scored a majority decision draw.

An immediate rematch between the two men was initially touted, but instead it is believed that ‘PacMan’ is looking at different options, with WBA welterweight champion Romero said to be one.

Romero won the WBA Regular title in May with a shock unanimous decision win over Ryan Garcia, and has since been elevated to full champion after Jaron Ennis vacated his belt to move up to 154lbs.

Many boxing figures have already weighed in on how a potential Pacquiao vs. Romero fight would go, and now a former world champion who once beat ‘PacMan’ has offered his take.

The man in question is Jeff Horn, the Australian who claimed a points victory over Pacquiao in July 2017, though it wasn’t without its controversy, with most viewers criticising the decision and believing it was the wrong outcome.

Having shared the ring with Pacquiao, Horn has now given his prediction for how the potential clash with Romero would go, telling Fight Hub TV he would still slightly edge towards his former rival.

“Yes, probably. I would favour him. Rolly is a lot younger, a prime Manny beats Romero, but at the stage now even though what Pacquiao showed against Barrios, it’s hard for me to fathom at 46-years-old Manny Pacquiao doing what he’s doing right now.”

With ‘PacMan’ planning to return to the ring before the end of the year, an announcement on who his next opponent will be is expected soon.
