Hamilton police are investigating a triple shooting that left 3 people injured. CP24’s Steve Ryan is on scene with the latest details from police.

Hamilton Police are investigating after a downtown shooting left three people injured early Saturday morning.

Police say they responded at around 1:50 a.m. in the area of Bowen Street and Jackson Street East. When officers arrived, they found three individuals with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

All were taken to hospital for treatment. Paramedics tell CP24 that two are in critical condition while one remains with serious injuries.

A large crime scene has been established, and road closures remain in effect on Jackson Street East between John Street and Catherine Street, and on Bowen Street between Main Street East and Jackson Street East.

Investigators say evidence at the scene indicates “multiple firearms were used” and a large number of rounds were fired. Police say there is still no word on any suspects.

Residents in the area told CP24’s Steve Ryan they were stunned by the sound of gunfire.

“I heard multiple shots… thought it was fireworks… I came out on the balcony… saw many people running… I figured out it was gunshots… after a few seconds I heard police cars coming,” said Vishal, who lives nearby.

“Probably 15 shots… first time in my life I heard shots… it was not pistols… it had 6 rounds… could be a gun or rifle,” he added.

There is no word on any possible suspect description but police are appealing for witnesses and asking residents in the area to check their surveillance footage.
