The Dallas Cowboys have locked up one of their key defensive players with a lucrative contract extension. Now, cornerback DaRon Bland is the sixth-highest paid at his position in the NFL, per Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

The Cowboys agreed on Sunday to a four-year, $92 million contract extension with Bland that includes $50 million guaranteed, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. The deal carries an average annual value of $23 million.

Today, Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer addressed DaRon Bland’s contract extension during his media availability.

“So well deserved,” Schottenheimer said. “I’m thrilled for him and his family. … He’s a huge, huge piece for us. He has incredible ball skills and instincts. … DaRon has always has the ability to process things quickly.”

Bland was drafted by Dallas in the fifth round in 2022 out of Fresno State. He had a breakout season in 2023, in which he recorded nine interceptions, five returned for touchdowns, setting an NFL record.
