Taylor Jenkins Reid is one of the most popular writers in the publishing world — and she’s not slowing down anytime soon.

The best-selling author has released nine novels in the last 12 years — two of which have already been adapted to the screen. Five of her other titles are set to become TV shows or movies in the near future.

In 2023, one of Reid’s earlier books, One True Loves, was adapted into a film starring Phillipa Soo and Simu Liu. That same year, her bestselling breakout hit, Daisy Jones & The Six, was turned into a Prime Video miniseries. Since then, five of Reid’s other books have been picked up for adaptations of their own, including her latest novel, Atmosphere, which was published in June 2025.

It’s a trip,” Reid told PEOPLE in May 2025 about watching her words transformed onscreen. “I feel quite confident that every single person that I’ve chosen to oversee these adaptations is taking them so seriously [and] has such a sincerity. They’re all doing a very good job.”

Here’s everything to know about all the Taylor Jenkins Reid books that are being adapted into films or TV series.

The first Reid book to hit the small screen was her breakout bestseller, Daisy Jones & The Six.

Published in 2019, the novel — structured in an oral history format — tells the story of the rise and fall of a fictional 1970s rock band, loosely based on Fleetwood Mac.

Before it was even published, Reese Witherspoon acquired the rights to the book through her production company, Hello Sunshine.

“As soon as I started reading Daisy Jones & The Six, I immediately fell head over heels in love with it, and I’m thrilled to be bringing it to the screen,” the actress told The Hollywood Reporter in July 2018. “I am so confident that Daisy and her band’s journey toward finding their voice will leave just as permanent a mark with viewers around the world as it did with me.”

The limited series premiered on Prime Video in March 2023 with a star-studded cast. Riley Keough, Elvis Presley’s granddaughter, played the titular character, Daisy Jones, while Sam Claflin costarred as the other lead singer, Billy Dunne. The rest of the band was rounded out by Suki Waterhouse, Will Harrison, Sebastian Chacon and Josh Whitehouse, while Camila Morrone was cast as Dunne’s wife.

Speaking to PEOPLE in May 2025, Reid praised Keough for her performance in the series. “For me to create the character of Daisy Jones, and then to watch her be Daisy Jones, it was honestly beyond my wildest dreams,” she said.

Shortly after the premiere of Daisy Jones, another Reid adaptation hit the big screen in April 2023.

One True Loves, based on the 2016 novel of the same name, follows Emma (Soo), a woman caught in a tragic romantic limbo. She’s engaged to Sam (Liu), her longtime best friend, when suddenly those plans are disrupted when her husband, Jesse (Luke Bracey), reappears in her life. Four years earlier, Jesse disappeared after a helicopter crash and was presumed dead. Unbeknownst to everyone, Jesse survived and has now returned home, leaving Emma torn between two great loves.

I’m a sucker for a good romance,” Liu told PEOPLE in April 2023, adding that he and his fiancée, Allison Hsu, are fans of Reid’s other onscreen adaptation, Daisy Jones & the Six.

In May 2024, Deadline reported that a limited series based on Reid’s debut novel Forever, Interrupted was in development with Netflix.

The show will star Laura Dern and Margaret Qualley, both of whom will also act as executive producers on the project. Julia Bicknell, known for her work as producer on Yellowjackets, is writing the adaptation and will act as showrunner of the series.

In the book, Elsie (Qualley) and Ben fall head-over-heels in love and within months, the pair are married, planning to spend the rest of their lives together. However, Ben suddenly dies just days after their wedding. Afterwards, Elsie meets Susan (Dern), the mother-in-law that wasn’t even aware of her existence.

The story unfolds in dual timelines, exploring the whirlwind romance between Elsie and Ben and the cathartic relationship between Elsie and Susan.

In March 2022, Netflix announced plans to adapt Reid’s 2017 book, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, into a film. While Variety reported that filmmaker Maggie Betts will serve as director in February 2025, the cast has not yet been announced.

Spanning from the 1950s to present day, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo tells the story of Hollywood icon, Evelyn Hugo, and the seven men she married throughout her lifetime. Although the protagonist, Evelyn Hugo, is not based solely on one person, she has been compared to old Hollywood stars like Elizabeth Taylor, Ava Gardner and Marilyn Monroe.

While no information on casting is available, fans have been quick to voice their own suggestions, including Ana de Armas, Jessica Chastain and Eiza González. At least one of those actresses has expressed interest in the role.

“It’d be such an honor,” González told E! News in March 2025. “I love the book. I love all [Reid’s] stuff. I’m a huge fan.”

De Armas has also said that she would “love” to star in the adaptation.

For her part, Reid hasn’t said anything about potential casting decisions. However, she did express a desire to expand on the theme of how women in the entertainment industry are treated.

“There was no Harvey Weinstein conversation when I finished that book,” she told TIME in May 2025. “We have a real opportunity here to further that conversation, and to make the movie better than the book.”

Published in 2021, Malibu Rising centers around four siblings and one unforgettable night. Nina, Jay, Hud and Kit — who are children of the legendary singer Mick Riva — are all young adults and famous in their own right. The novel follows the four as they navigate their own lives and traumas until it all culminates in one epic party thrown at the end of the summer of 1983.

In June 2021, shortly after the book hit shelves, The Hollywood Reporter announced that the book was being developed into a TV series for Hulu. Liz Tigelaar, creator of Little Fires Everywhere, was named as an executive producer along with Brad Mendelsohn, Stacey Silverman and Jennifer Gwartz.

In April 2025, Deadline announced that Netflix would be developing a series adaptation of Carrie Soto is Back, Reid’s bestselling 2022 tennis-themed novel. Even more fitting, tennis legend Serena Williams has been tapped as an executive producer on the project. Williams confirmed the news in a post on her Instagram Stories, sharing a screenshot of the Deadline article and tagging her production company.

The novel follows Carrie Soto, a retired tennis champion, who decides to make a comeback, despite the fact that the world considers her past her athletic prime. The story centers around her complex relationship with her father and the unexpected connection she forms with a fellow athlete.

Reid’s latest book, Atmosphere, was released in June 2025, but even before it hit bookshelves, there were already plans for the big screen. In May, Variety reported that Laika Studios would be producing a movie based on the novel, with Captain Marvel directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck set to direct the project.

The novel is centered around Joan Goodwin, an astrophysicist who joins the NASA space shuttle program in the 1980s, becoming one of the first female astronauts.

“I knew that I wanted to continue to write about women and male dominated spaces,” Reid told PEOPLE in May. “But also I’m so curious about the types of women that thrive in that environment. I see Daisy Jones and Karen in Daisy Jones & the Six as great examples of that.”

She continued, saying, “I want to bring Joan Goodwin to life. That’s my goal. And then the rest of it is just a way to do that.”
