More than 90,000 Ford and Lincoln vehicles are being recalled in Canada over a range of safety concerns, including faulty airbags, lighting malfunctions and brake hose failures that could increase the risk of a crash.
As always, Transport Canada is overseeing the recall process to ensure compliance.
See below for more information on each recall, including the model, year and specific issues prompting the action.
Light trucks recalled by Ford
Model: Ranger
Year: 2024, 2025
Units affected: 11,643
Issue: On certain vehicles, the side curtain airbags could contact the B-pillar reinforcement flange and fail to inflate properly in a crash.
Safety risk: A side curtain airbag that doesn’t work correctly could increase the risk of injury in a collision.
What you should do: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise them to bring their vehicle to a dealership, where a protective shield will be installed for the side curtain airbags.
SUVs recalled by Ford and Lincoln
Models: Ford Explorer, Ford Police Interceptor Utility (Explorer), Lincoln Aviator
Year: 2025
Units affected: 18,266
Issue: The body control module (BCM) may not have been manufactured properly, which could cause the trailer taillights to stop working when towing. Drivers may also see trailer error messages in the instrument cluster and experience other electrical malfunctions.
Safety risk: Trailer taillights that don’t function properly could reduce visibility and increase the risk of a crash.
What you should do: Ford will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealership to have the BCM inspected and replaced if necessary.
Cars recalled by Ford
Model: Mustang
Year: 2024, 2025
Units affected: 8,528
Issue: The body seams may not have been sealed properly. Water could leak into the BCM, causing exterior lights such as marker lights, taillights and license plate lights to flicker or fail.
Safety risk: Exterior lights that flicker or don’t work could make the vehicle less visible to others and raise the risk of a crash.
What you should do: Ford will notify owners by mail and advise them to bring their vehicle to a dealership to have the body seams inspected and sealed, and the BCM inspected and replaced if necessary.
SUVs recalled by Ford and Lincoln
Models: Ford Edge, Lincoln MKX
Year: 2015–2018
Units affected: 52,547
Issue: On certain vehicles, the rear brake hoses could fail and cause a progressive brake fluid leak, reducing braking performance. Drivers may also notice a change in brake pedal feel and travel.
Safety risk: Reduced braking can lead to longer stopping distances and increase the risk of a crash.
What you should do: Ford will notify owners by mail. The corrective actions for this recall are still being developed.
