We have an interesting detail regarding a trade currently being negotiated between the Montreal Canadiens and the San Jose Sharks.

First, let’s recap what we know.

That said, there is an interesting particularity with the Sharks.

The Sharks would trade an AHL player to the Montreal Canadiens if they acquire Carey Price

Why them, and not necessarily the Penguins or the Blackhawks?

Because the Sharks are at the NHL’s maximum contract limit.. plain and simple!

If they do take on Price’s contract, they will need to trade one in return.
