A trade proposal has emerged that would see the Vancouver Canucks address their need down the middle and land a 750+ game veteran from the New York Islanders.
It might not be easy to bring in another player before training camp, especially a quality one at that, but Patrik Allvin and the Canucks continue to try and recently, a trade proposal was suggested that would see the club land someone who has close to 800 games of NHL experience.
Trade proposal sees Vancouver Canucks land 750+ game veteran
In an article for Heavy.com, Michael DeRosa believes that after the Canucks lost Pius Suter to the St. Louis Blues in free agency, they’ll need to replace that skill he brought to the lineup and one way to do that would be by acquiring Jean-Gabriel Pageau from the New York Islanders.DeRosa’s trade proposal would see Patrik Allvin send a 2026 second round pick, Teddy Blueger and Arshdeep Bains to the New York Islanders in exchange for Jean-Gabriel Pageau.”Heavy Sports has a trade proposal that has the Islanders moving Pageau to the Canucks.
Canucks Get:
– Jean-Gabriel Pageau
Islanders Get:
– 2026 Second-Round Pick
– Teddy Blueger
– Arshdeep Bains” DeRosa said.
The Ottawa, Ontario native also has a bit of bite to his game and if he were hypothetically placed on the team’s second line alongside Evander Kane and Conor Garland, that trio could cause a lot of problems for other teams come playoff time.
However, the package that Vancouver would send to the Islanders in this proposal seems like a lot, especially for someone who is set to become an unrestricted free agent on Canada Day 2026.
While Pageau has hit the 30+ point mark in each of the last four seasons and has been useful in the playoffs, he might not be the perfect player for Patrik Allvin to acquire, especially at that cost, and it would almost serve the club better to use one of their internal options to fill a hole down the middle, such as Linus Karlsson for example.
