Jannik Sinner has stormed into the quarterfinals of the US Open after a blistering win over Alexander Bublik.
Sinner faced a potential scare against Bublik, who represents the only player other than Carlos Alcaraz to beat him in 2025.
But the ATP number one made no mistake this time around, thrashing Bublik 6-1, 6-1, 6-1 in their fourth round match.
The Italian needed just one hour and 21 minutes to secure the win, and subsequently a quarterfinal spot at the US Open.
Sinner now meets compatriot Lorenzo Musetti, the 10th seed who defeated Jaume Munar in straight sets in their fourth round clash.

The defending champion was, however, questioned if the public deserves better following his latest match, in which Bublik made 13 double faults and carried out two underarm serves.
Sinner replied: “I don’t know. I just try from my side. Or from my point of view to make the best of what I can on that day.
“Sometimes we have some days off, where certain things don’t work. Some players have some problems behind the scenes, you never know.
“At the end of the day we try to make the sport as interesting as possible. At times I felt today I was playing some great tennis.
“I managed to break him very early. It gave me then the confidence to serve a little bit better and play from the back of the court a bit better.
“It was a fast match but at the same time from my point of view it is good. People come here to see some great tennis matches, some great battles and it’s not always that is the case.
“I don’t know what he said or if he was in here, but I can just judge from my point of view and how I managed to play and it was a good performance from my side.”
Jannik Sinner may cause fan divide after US Open win over Alexander Bublik
Sinner’s latest victory may just cause a split among tennis fans, with the Italian having won in a particularly ruthless fashion.
It certainly isn’t a new phenomenon from the world number one, who is looking likely to defend his title in New York.
Some fans may have thoroughly enjoyed his stunning performance, having blitzed past Bublik with several world-class shots.
But other tennis fans, particularly those inside Arthur Ashe Stadium, may just have wanted the contest to be more competitive and thus last longer.
He’s dropped just one set at this year’s Grand Slam, which arrived against Denis Shapovalov in the third round.
But even Sinner has fallen short of rival Carlos Alcaraz in that regard, with the Spaniard yet to drop a set from his four matches so far.
