Hall of Famer ‘Sugar’ Shane Mosley has shared his final verdict on the upcoming clash between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.

Canelo will put his undisputed super-middleweight world championship up for grabs when he clashes with ‘Bud’ Crawford on Saturday September 13 at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Mexican superstar began his second reign as undisputed champion at 168lbs back in May when he defeated Cuba’s William Scull via unanimous decision to add the IBF title to his collection after vacating the belt not long before.

One fighter that has experience in sharing the ring with Canelo is three-division world champion Mosley, who was beaten via unanimous decision by the Mexican star when they clashed for the WBC super-welterweight title back in May 2012.

Speaking to Fight Hub TV, Mosley admitted that whilst he expects the showdown between Canelo and Crawford to be competitive during the early stages of the fight, he claims that his former foe will go on to be victorious.

“I see Crawford and Canelo having a good fight for the first four rounds but then I see Canelo slowly commanding the fight and winning.”

He was then asked to give his reason for backing his former rival.

“He’s too big … I think Crawford’s doing an excellent job moving up [in weight], he’s great, very courageous. He’s doing all the right things, I just think that Canelo’s too big.”

In a previous prediction, Mosley has said the fight will turn out ‘pretty easy’ for Canelo.

Whilst he is faced with a test of the highest magnitude when he faces Canelo, ‘Bud’ will look to write his name into the boxing history books by becoming the first male fighter of all time to capture an undisputed championship at three weight classes.
