A man in his 30s suffered life-threatening injuries after being shot in Mississauga overnight, Peel Regional Police say.
Officers were called to the Embassy Avenue and Inverhouse Drive area near Southdown Road and Royal Windsor Drive at around 4:15 a.m. for reports of a shooting.
One male victim with gunshot wounds to the body was located. Police say a suspect vehicle, described as a white SUV with multiple occupants, fled in an unknown direction.
Police confirmed that a male victim, in his 30s, was transported to a Toronto trauma centre in critical condition. His condition has been upgraded to non-life-threatening.
Witnesses told 680 NewsRadio that two white SUVs were travelling south on Southdown Road when one blocked the other and shots were fired.
The driver of one of the SUVs drove into a plaza parking lot and crashed into a pole outside a restaurant. It’s believed he was the victim who suffered life-threatening injuries, while a female passenger was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
