Canelo Alvarez was once completely uninterested in fighting Terence Crawford, but he soon changed his mind.
On September 13, Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford are set to clash in one of the biggest boxing fights in recent years when they fight for the undisputed super middleweight title.
The fight is not only highly anticipated because of the stylistic matchup between the two but also because it is TKO boxing‘s inaugural event with Dana White promoting his first major boxing show.
And when the two pound-for-pound stars faced off for the second time earlier this year at the pre-fight press conference, White had to step in the middle to stop a brawl from breaking out.

Both the Mexican and ‘Bud’ Crawford have been building their resumes in different weight classes and are both widely regarded as two of the best current pound-for-pound fighters on the planet.
However, they have seemingly been on a collision course heading for each other, but originally, it was a fight Canelo was not interested in.
Following his blockbuster win against Jermell Charlo, the Mexican champion was asked about the potential of fighting Crawford but he turned it down and claimed that Crawford wasn’t in his plans.
Now just over a week out from their blockbuster clash, Canelo has revealed why he changed his mind about fighting the American champion.
“I think he’s one of the best fighters pound-for-pound, he’s accomplished a lot of things too,” Canelo told Ring Magazine.
“Mexican vs American fighter is always big. It’s gonna be different for him, different in every single thing, we’ll see how he handles that,” Canelo continued.
Canelo not concerned by Crawford’s skillset
Ahead of his fight against Crawford, the Mexican champion has been criticised for being involved in boring fights.
However, Canelo has put that down to his opponents ‘running’ during the fight but he doesn’t think Crawford will fight in that way.
“To have a good fight, you need two fighters. I hope (Crawford will not run). I think Crawford is not that kind of fighter, he’s different, he boxes and I like that,” Canelo said.
