Kalki Koechlin, who shot to fame with the film Dev D, has recently opened up about being scrutinised by people for her looks. In an exclusive interaction with Zoom, Kalkie poured her heart out and said that people would comment on her teeth and looks after seeing her in Dev D.
Kalki Koechlin on facing criticism
Kalki Koechlin confessed that the mean comments would affect her initially, especially when the statements came from the faceless haters on social media. While speaking about the same, the Made In Heaven actress said, “I do remember very distinctly having periods in my life early on in my career, especially after Dev D. After my first film, I felt so scrutinised for the way I looked. I felt ugly when I would look in the mirror. I know I wasn’t ugly. Now, when I look back, I am like, I was in my prime. I look so good. Why didn’t I enjoy it?”
However, Kalki Koechlin gained confidence and decided not to pay any attention to the haters’ comments. She said, “But there were times when I was looking at myself and I was like, I felt so ugly. Because someone commented about my teeth, and someone said, ‘How can you be an actor?’. People would casually comment about me on social media. I remember those affecting the way I looked at myself. I don’t know if any amount of exposure or confidence, like sexual liberation, can protect you from their comments.”
Talking about Kalki Koechlin, she has worked in many popular films such as Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Shanghai, Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, Sam Bahadur, Ek Thi Daayan, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Margarita and so on. Stay tuned for more updates!
