The Colorado High School Cycling League consists of more than 160 schools split into four regions — Yampa, Platte, Crystal and Piedra — competing across three divisions (D1, D2 and D3). Cyclists can race in either varsity, junior varsity, sophomore or freshmen classes. Team scores in D3 — the division Eagle Valley and VSSA compete in — are based on the top-5 point-earners (from any class), with a maximum of four coming from either the boys’ or girls’ categories.
In Leadville, Eagle Valley’s Heidi Treichel (1:39:38.20) placed fifth overall in the girls varsity competition while younger sister, Haley (1:19:10.51) took third in the 2-lap freshmen race. Jack Sargent (1:31:16.28) rounded out the Devils’ scoring with his 13th-place result in the boys varsity race.
