Ottumwa Public Library Director Sonja Ferrell says the new Book Fair for Grown-Ups is supposed to be an opportunity for adults to have those same excited feelings againexcept this time, the books, atmosphere and fun, little items are ones that normally appeal to adults.

“We’re also going to have a baker, and we’ll probably have coffee on hand. It’ll just be a fun evening of hanging out with people with similar interests in reading,” Ferrell said.

There will also be some special guest appearances.

“We’ll have 10 regional, local authors from Iowa who will be selling their individual books. So, it will be like a book fair where you go up to their table, you get to talk to the author, learn about their writing process and their writing. We have some romance authors, we have some local history authorsit runs the gamut,” Ferrell said.

If you have children, Ferrell says grown-ups are encouraged to use this as an opportunity to focus on just yourself by leaving your kids at home. But, they won’t turn anyone away if they have some little ones in tow–they’ll even be selling a few kids books.
