Johnny Knoxville of Jackass fame has been in and around Vancouver lately, and we know why.
Do you remember that show Fear Factor? It was previously hosted by the controversial podcast host Joe Rogan. If you don’t remember it, the video below offers a quick reminder. If bugs and icky things gross you out, maybe don’t click play.
It turns out that a follow-up series called Fear Factor: The Next Chapter is in production, and producers have perfectly cast Knoxville as the host.
The original Fear Factor aired between 2001 and 2006. It was undoubtedly a product of its time and one of the earliest reality TV shows to find a large audience.
A listing for the production can be found on the UBCP/ACTRA website. The show has been in production since Aug. 24 and is expected to wrap on Sept. 14.
Knoxville actually posted a picture on Instagram within the last week, and many identified his location in Vancouver, with some of his followers getting even more specific, suggesting the picture was snapped at Britannia Beach.
Just a couple of months ago, the Vancouver Indie Film Community Facebook group put out a casting call for the show, stating, “We’re gearing up to film Fear Factor in Vancouver this summer and are starting to collect resumes to share with our department heads as they hire their local crew.”
“If you work in the unscripted world (or have experience on Hallmark, Indies, commercials, etc.) in Art, Locations, Transport, or Cast Care, we’d love to keep your resume on file for when specific needs come up or when our department heads start requesting recommendations,” the casting call added.
Considering Knoxville’s history, he’s the perfect person to host the show. When Rogan was the host, he would often say to the winner of an episode, “Fear is not a factor for you.” And as we all know from some of Knoxville’s stunts, fear is definitely not a factor for him.
