Bubba Wallace may be living the NASCAR dream, but he appears to have aspirations beyond stock cars in the back of his mind, having recently proposed a brief car swap.

The driver of the No. 23 23XI Racing Toyota, who was briefly left ‘blind’ during a recent race, suggested in a RedditAsk Me Anything’ in partnership with sponsor, Chumba Casino, in which he admitted to harboring Formula 1 dreams.

Asked for his thoughts on the series and whether or not he would consider it, Wallace responded, “I would love to do a car swap with Lewis Hamilton.” The 31-year-old’s proposal comes amidst what is proving to be a difficult season for the seven-time F1 champion, who has struggled to find his feet since switching Mercedes for Ferrari, even prompting him to label himself “absolutely useless” after qualifying in Hungary.

Given Hamilton’s rough patch of form, which has seen him fail to reach a podium for the Scuderia, barring a sprint race win in China and a third in the Miami sprint, perhaps a change of scenery could be exactly what he needs.

What’s more, he has previously expressed an interest in giving NASCAR a go, commenting in 2023, via NBC Sports, “I did a car swap with Tony Stewart years ago, which was fun.

“I’d love to try it at some stage. It’s not a dream for me to go race another series, but I am an admirer. I’m a fan of racing and other sports. So I would like to try it.”

The 40-year-old also noted that he is keen to try his hand at Motor GP, adding, “I sometimes watch IndyCar and would love to try one of those at some stage. But right now my focus is solely on Formula One, and I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon.”

As for where Wallace would want such a switch to take place, should his dream ever become a reality, it appears a trip to Belgium may be high on his wish list. Asked if there was a track he wished he could someday race on, the Brickyard 400 winner replied, “I’ve never really had a track that I would love to race at outside of the ones that we already do. I don’t know; let’s go to Spa.”

That being said, Wallace’s ambitions beyond NASCAR aren’t limited to just F1, noting that he is also keen “to try NHRA one time,” adding that going “300 mph sounds fun!!”

In that case, he may want to follow in Hamilton’s footsteps and have a word with NASCAR legend Stewart, who now competes in the Top Fuel class. In fact, he recently won the Regular Season Championship despite this only being his second year competing full-time, celebrating this latest milestone with a giant $150,000 check
