Girls Trip star Tiffany Haddish has signed on to star opposite Isla Fisher (Tag, Wedding Crashers) in Double Crossed, a high-concept action-comedy being shopped to buyers at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Haddish and Fisher play Niki and Lara, two women with polar-opposite personalities who discover, at their husband’s funeral, that they were married to the same man. As secrets from his life emerge, the unlikely duo embark on a perilous road trip to uncover the dangerous truth about the man they thought they both knew.
Kestrin Pantera (Pretty Problems) is set to direct the film from a script by Shelby Enlow. Zero Gravity will produce the feature together with Jeffrey Greenstein’s A Higher Standard, with A Higher Standard handling worldwide sales at TIFF. Principal photography is set to begin in the first quarter of next year.
Zero Gravity’s Mark Williams and Allie Loh with Orien Richman will produce alongside Greenstein, with Thayer Juergens executive producing and Rebecca Raichek overseeing development on behalf of A Higher Standard.
“I couldn’t be more excited about this film, this incredible team, and my first collaboration with Zero Gravity on what promises to be a fun-filled ride,” said Greenstein.
“The combination of humor and explosions, what could be better,” added Williams. “The script is very funny, our actors are very funny, now all we need is lighter fluid.”
Haddish was last seen on the big screen in Bad Boys: Ride or Die, and has several features in the pipeline, including Matt Sukkar’s action thriller The Deputy alongside William H. Macy, and Lil Rel Howery’s feature Haunted Heist. Fisher was last seen in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, and in Netflix’s George Clooney-starrer Jay Kelly, which celebrated its world premiere at the Venice film festival last week before heading to Telluride.
A Higher Standard’s upcoming slate includes the action comedy Playdate with Alan Ritchson and Kevin James, and the Kevin James-led romantic comedy Solo Mio.
Haddish is repped by UTA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole. Fisher is repped by UTA, and Sloane, Offer, Webber & Dern. Pantera is repped by CAA, Zero Gravity Management and Bloch Law.
