HAMILTON, N.Y. – The University of Pennsylvania men’s golf team finished ninth out of 14 teams at the season-opening Alex Lagowitz Memorial. The two-day, 54-hole tournament was hosted by Colgate University at the par-72 Seven Oaks Golf Club.

Penn shot 26-over-par 890 across three rounds in Hamilton. Lehigh was the team champion, finishing the weekend at 8-under-par 856. That left the Mountain Hawks seven shots ahead of second-place Seton Hall (863) and 16 ahead of third-place Villanova (872).

Sophomore Ryan Chang was Penn’s low scorer over the weekend. He had the Quakers’ low round for the weekend in the second round, a 2-under-par 70, and ended the weekend at 2-over-par 218. That left him tied for 11th in a field of 92 golfers. Junior Hayden Adams carded 7-over-par 223 and tied for 34th, while freshman Kayden Wang finished the weekend at 10-over-par 226 and tied for 51st.

Max Fonseca (230, +14), Arjun Caprihan (231, +15) and Owen Hayes (246, +30) were Penn’s other players on the weekend. Of note, Caprihan shot an even-par 72 in just the second round of his collegiate career on Saturday afternoon.

Lehigh players finished first and second on the individual leaderboard, as Noah Zyung finished at 9-under-par 207 to win medalist honors while Ryan Cronin carded 3-under-par 213 to place second.
