With extremely heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. To say he was a legend in his time is an understatement. The number of people he had passing through his door the last couple of weeks and over the years in the garage is unlike any other. He was a true family man who loved everyone around him and everyone was his friend/amigo. He loved his Cuban family and so dearly wanted to go again.

Douglas is survived by his children and their spouses, grandchildren and their spouses, and great-grandchildren. A very special uncle and wonderful friend to so many, especially his beloved wife Nancy; she was his rock and kept it all together. We know he was greeted by his son Doug, his twin brother Don and many other family members. He will be missed beyond measure — the jokes and teasing, the euchre games and the drinks in the garage, watching the kids and grandkids in the pool, and always the family get-togethers. Rest well Dad, you deserve it.

His wish was for any memorial contributions to be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 10, and from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11, at Adams Funeral Home (445 St. Vincent St., Barrie). A reception will follow in the Adams Funeral Home reception lounge.

Messages of condolence may be forwarded to the family through adamsfuneralhome.ca.
