The Edmonton Elks released offensive lineman Phillip Grohovac from the practice squad on Monday according to the CFL Transactions page.

Phillip Grohovac is six foot five and weighs 305 pounds. The 25-year-old from Victoria, British Columbia, dressed in 11 games as a backup left guard for the Elks in 2025. This year, Edmonton is averaging 21.5 points per game, 323.3 net yards per game, 244.5 passing yards per game, 105.4 rushing yards per game, 26 touchdowns, and allowing 35 sacks. They are currently 5-7, tied for fourth place in the West Division.

The Edmonton Elks drafted Grohovac in the third round (20th pick) of the 2023 CFL Draft. In 2023, he played 11 games.

Edmonton’s offense ranked last in points per game (20.4), fifth in touchdowns (41), seventh in average total yards (324.9), third in average rushing yards (123.6), eighth in average passing yards (221.1), and fifth in sacks allowed (52).

The Elks re-signed Grohovac on November 24, 2023. In 2024, he played seven games. Edmonton’s offense averaged 28 points per game, 390.3 net offense per game, 131.4 rushing yards per game, 271.7 passing yards per game, and 29 sacks allowed finishing 7-11 for the season.

Collegiately, Grohovac played three seasons at Western Ontario University (2019, 2021-22) with one catch for two yards and one touchdown in 23 games for the Mustangs. In 2021, he helped the Mustangs win the Vanier Cup.
