A cyclist has serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle in northeast Calgary on Monday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of 36 Street NE and 20 Avenue NE around 3:20 p.m. for reports of a crash involving a vehicle and a cyclist.

The cyclist, a person in their 70s, was rushed to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

No other injuries have been reported.

36 Street NE is shut down in both directions between 26 Avenue NE and 16 Avenue NE. Motorists are being asked to avoid the area.

There was no CTrain service between Rundle and Marlborough LRT station for several hours. Trains resumed regular operations around 6 p.m.
