Jack Roslovic remains the top free agent available in the NHL, and according to a top insider, he’s becoming a top-line option for the Maple Leafs.

After moving Mitch Marner earlier this off-season in a sign-and-trade with Vegas, the Toronto Maple Leafs acquired Dakota Joshua, Matias Macceli and Nicolas Roy, all in an attempt to replace Marner’s production.

However, there has still been speculation that they could be looking for other options as well, but with very few assets to deal with, Brad Treliving’s potential candidates don’t make a very long list.

Toronto Believes Jack Roslovic Could Fill ‘Mitch Marner Hole’ on the First Line

Now, on the latest episode of the Donnie and Dhali show, NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman has addressed the situation, revealing that Toronto believe free agency Jack Roslovic could be a top-line winger to pair with Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies, the spot that Marner just vacated.

A guy like Jack Roslovic, I think Toronto was looking at him…potentially as a winger on the number one line.

Last season with Carolina, Roslovic tallied 22 goals and 39 points, doing so while primarily placed on the teams third line, and given the opportunity, the belief is that he could take a major step up in production.

To get him onto the roster however, the Maple Leafs would need to clear out their forward logjam, but if they can get that done, the 28-year old would be a fantastic fit, with the team reportedly seeing him as a first-line replacement for Marner moving forward.

Only time will tell whether or not he gets a multi-year offer towards the end of the off-season that could draw him in, but if not, he’s the best option out there for Toronto beyond a blockbuster trade, something that they simply don’t have the assets for.
