A speed camera on O’Connor Drive and Coxwell Avenue was cut down overnight, one of many found downed on Tuesday morning.

The camera was found by CityNews knocked over early Tuesday morning on O’Connor Drive.

This comes two days after the infamous Parkside Drive speed camera was cut down for the seventh time in less than a year.

Later on Tuesday morning, Chopper 680 has spotted another speed camera down on Sheppard Avenue West, near Keele Street.

Meanwhile, Toronto Ward 19, Beaches–East York Councillor, Brad Bradford posted a picture on social media, showing another camera that was cut down on Lakeshore Boulevard, just west of Woodbine Avenue.

“This is unacceptable. The perpetual struggle to keep these cameras up is becoming a joke.” wrote Bradford.

Surveillance video surfaced showing someone cutting down the Parkside speed camera earlier this year.

The video was captured by a trail camera set up in nearby bushes by a concerned citizen and shows a shadowy figure using a step ladder and what appears to be a Sawzall, or reciprocating saw, to cut the camera down before fleeing the scene.

Over 30 cameras cut down

A spokesperson with the City of Toronto told CityNews they have recorded 29 pole-mounted cameras cut down over the past year.

However, the recent cameras knocked over on Tuesday morning marks over 30 downed this past year.

The Parkside Drive speed camera was cut down seven times in the span of 10 months.

Which cameras have been reported cut down?

CityNews has obtained a list from city officials showing the cameras that have been cut down, so far, this year.
