On Saturday, the Roswell Coyotes boys soccer team came in first place during the Coyote Classic soccer tournament at Cielo Grande. The tournament invited high school soccer teams from around New Mexico to participate in the competition. The Coyotes, who were the host team for this tournament, ended up victorious after defeating the Centennial Hawks 2-0 in the championship game. For other local teams, the Goddard Rockets would come in fourth place after losing to the Mayfield Trojans, 5-4 in a shootout, in the third-place match. In contrast, the New Mexico Military Institute Colts would come in fifth place after winning the Consolation Championship game against the Carlsbad Cavemen, 5-2.
