Women’s college soccer Week 4 had several standout performances. The Northwestern Wildcats went on the road and earned a massive result. ACC teams, North Carolina and Notre Dame, also had big weeks, and Arizona State’s Addison Baltodano made some career firsts.
Here’s a look at our women’s soccer awards for Week 4:
Team of the Week
Northwestern
Northwestern’s Kennedy Roesch put in a shot from outside the box to give the Wildcats a 1-0 advantage in the first half on the road against #4 TCU. Roesch’s banger goal was enough for the win as Northwestern secured its highest-ranked road win in program history. It was TCU’s first home loss since August 2023, highlighting how massive a result this is for the Wildcats’ first month of the season.
Next for Northwestern is Iowa on the road to start their Big Ten Conference slate.
Player of the Week
Olivia Thomas – Junior – Forward – North Carolina
Thomas is coming off a big week, scoring a brace against James Madison on Sunday and also scoring a goal against Alabama on Thursday. The Tar Heel has a goal contribution in five straight games, coinciding with UNC’s current five-game winning streak. She also now leads the ACC with seven goals on the year.
Thomas and the Heels’ next game is on the road against Virginia Tech to kick off ACC play.
Goalkeeper of the Week
Sonoma Kasica – Sophomore – Notre Dame
Kasica made three saves en route to Notre Dame’s fourth straight clean sheet this past Thursday against Michigan State. Kasica hasn’t allowed a goal in nearly a month and has increased her save percentage to .833 through the early stages of the 2025 season.
Next up for Kasica and the Fighting Irish is a road matchup against NC State tomorrow to start their ACC action.
Freshman of the Week
Addison Baltodano – D/M/F – Arizona State
Baltodano had a couple of career firsts this past week as she made her first college career start on Thursday against Pepperdine, helping Arizona State keep a clean sheet. On Sunday, she recorded her first career assist against Denver as the Sun Devils went on to win their fifth straight game and remain unbeaten through seven games to start the season.
Baltodano and Arizona State’s next game is UTEP on Friday.
