Colleen Hoover is back.
The author announced the release date and cover of her long-awaited new book, “Woman Down,” in an exclusive clip aired on TODAY on Sept. 10.
“It is a thriller, probably one of the darkest books I’ve written so far,” Hoover said.
“Woman Down” is set to be released on Jan. 13, 2026 via Amazon Publishing, and is available to preorder today.
The book follows a frustrated author who goes to a secluded lakeside cabin for inspiration, and when a detective shows up with disturbing news, her creativity comes back.
But when the investigator starts taking his role in her life too seriously, the author must confront her past and reclaim her own reputation.
Hoover, the author of bestselling novels like “It Ends With Us,” “Verity,” “Reminders of Him” and more, said she hoped her fans loved the new book.
“I just want to say a quick thank you for being so patient and supportive,” she said. “This one took me a while to finally get another book out for you, but I’m excited for you guys to read it and go preorder your copy today.”
Hoover’s books took off during the COVID-19 pandemic, in part due to the book community on TikTok, making her one of the biggest authors in the world.
In 2022, she sold more than 8.6 million print copies of her books, according to Circana Bookscan — more copies sold than J.K. Rowling, James Patterson, Stephen King and John Grisham combined.
Hype for the author reached a fever pitch when the film adaptation of “It Ends With Us” was released last year, and she was wrapped up in the film’s stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s ongoing feud, which later became a legal saga.
Hoover’s last book, “Too Late,” was published in 2023, and was originally posted on Wattpad. She also published “It Starts With Us,” a prequel to her hit book, “It Ends With Us,” in 2022.
