The Arizona Fall League announced its preliminary rosters on Wednesday, the first step toward kicking off another six weeks of fun in the desert. This year’s group includes 10 of BA’s Top 100 prospects, including No. 2 Kevin McGonigle and No. 10 Sebastian Walcott.

The 2025 AFL season begins on Oct. 6 and lasts until Nov. 15. Beyond the usual six stadiums in Scottsdale, Surprise, Glendale, Salt River, Peoria and Mesa, the AFL this year will take its show on the road to Goodyear for a few games and, on Oct. 13, to Kino Sports Complex in Tucson for a triple header.

The Arizona Fall League gives prospects who were injured part of the year a place to make up innings and at at-bats. It also allows players who are being considered for spots on the 40-man roster one final audition while serving as a finishing school for some of the game’s elite prospects.

Rookie of the Year favorite Nick Kurtz played in the league last fall, as did Braves catcher Drake Baldwin, White Sox shortstop Colson Montgomery and Brewers infielder Caleb Durbin.

Who will be the next AFL breakthrough players? The answer is just weeks away. In the meantime, we’ll be breaking down full rosters for each AFL team. Below, you can find a look at the Glendale Desert Dogs.

Top 100 Prospects: Josue De Paula (18), Braden Montgomery (79)

Storylines: Speed fiends, this is the roster for you. Dodgers outfielder Kendall George has stolen 100 bases in 124 tries this season, and Braves outfielder Patrick Clohisy racked up 74 steals in 91 attempts. Another Dodgers outfielder, Josue De Paula, swiped 32 bags as part of a sterling season spent predominantly at High-A Great Lakes. Start warming up those arms now, rival catchers.

Los Angeles righthander Hyun-Seok Jang is one of the most mercurial pitchers in the Fall League. In a vacuum, his stuff should allow him to dominate. In fits and starts, that’s the case. His command and control are shaky enough, however, that outings can go off the rails quickly. If the best version of Jang shows up, he could be one of the AFL’s breakout stars.

Quietly, White Sox infielder Sam Antonacci had one of the system’s best season. The 2024 fifth-rounder did an excellent job staying within the strike zone and also hit the ball with a fair amount of thump. Keeping it up in Arizona could vault him further up the prospect ranks.
