The Dallas Mavericks are re-signing center Jamarion Sharp, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reports.
“The Mavericks and Jamarion Sharp have agreed to a deal, sources told
@hoopshype. The 7-foot-5 center averaged 3.1 blocks, 7.1 rebounds, and 5.8 points on 60.1% shooting for the Texas Legends. He was selected for the NBA G League United Team in the 2025 FIBA Intercontinental Cup,” wrote Scotto in a post on X.
The 24-year-old figures to play for Dallas’ G League team, the Texas Legends, throughout the upcoming season.
Mavericks Continue to Add Depth
Sharp, the Western Kentucky and Ole Miss product, is a tantalizing seven-foot-five, which would make him the tallest player in the NBA. Memphis Grizzlies center Zach Edey is listed at seven-foot-four, along with San Antonio Spurs phenom Victor Wembanyama.
While Sharp hasn’t been able to put it all together yet, you can’t teach that type of height and could become a valuable weapon in the Mavericks’ front-court rotation.
The 2025-26 Mavs feature a strong group of big men already, with Anthony Davis, Daniel Gafford, Dereck Lively II, and Dwight Powell. They clearly won’t be rushing Sharp to the big leagues anytime soon.
Regardless, Davis and Lively seem to regularly miss time with injuries, so we could potentially see Sharp get some time if needed this upcoming season.
Training camp begins in early October for teams, and the Mavericks’ front office and coaching staff will have a chance to see if they’re going to need Sharp’s length and size for the upcoming NBA season.
