A new Clayface set photo has Batman fans once again debating if Robert Pattinson’s Dark Knight will be part of the DCU.
DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures’ Clayface is currently in production. Directed by James Watkins, the movie stars Tom Rhys Harries as the titular Batman villain, while Mickey 17’s Naomi Ackie also stars.
What do we see in the Clayface set photo?
A new Clayface set photo, taken by @deejay1711 and shared on Twitter by @EGGBOY_03, sees a sticker of the Bat-Symbol on a large dumpster. View it below:
This is not confirmation that Batman will be in Clayface, as there’s been no official announcement regarding the matter, and this could merely be an Easter egg. It’s also entirely possible, given how small the sticker is, that someone stuck it on a prop unbeknownst to anyone who is actually making the movie.
Having said that, some fans seem to think that this is Pattinson’s Batman’s Bat-Symbol and a sign that the DCU/The Batman Epic Crime Saga merger could be happening.
People are saying someone might’ve just placed that sticker since it’s a public dumpster. No, look at the difference; Robert Pattinson might be the DCU Batman. pic.twitter.com/tmWrPYjpn2

Whether or not that’s actually the case remains to be seen. Clayface’s designs for Gotham’s police vehicles and the map of Gotham City, both of which were seen and shared online in other set photos, led some to believe that the merger would not happen, given how different they looked from what’s been seen in The Batman Epic Crime Saga.
It is worth noting, however, that The Batman director Matt Reeves is also producing Clayface alongside James Gunn, Peter Safran, and Lynn Harris.
The script for Clayface comes from Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini. The movie is described as being an R-rated body horror story about an up-and-coming actor whose face becomes disfigured by a gangster. In order to continue pursuing his career, the actor then turns to a scientist who helps transform his body to become something else entirely.
Clayface arrives in United States theaters on September 11, 2026. The Batman Part 2, meanwhile, arrives on October 1, 2027.
