ESPN NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky broke down a few throws from Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence during the team’s Week 1 win over Carolina.

What stood out to Orlovsky about these throws is the confidence and timing that Lawrence was playing with. Orlovsky began by saying that Lawrence has “struggled with just letting the football go” in recent seasons. However, that wasn’t the case in Week 1.

On the first play, Orlovsky noted how quickly Lawrence worked through his progressions when the initial read wasn’t there. This has been a major priority for Lawrence this offseason.

Then, on the second play, Orlovsky highlighted how quickly Lawrence is processing the Liam Coen offense and knowing instantly where to go with the ball based on how the defenders are reacting to the routes.

Lastly, on play No. 3, Orlovsky points out the trust that Lawrence has in what he’s seeing and in where his pass-catchers will be.

Mina Kimes concluded the segment by highlighting the Jaguars‘ running game. In Coen’s one season in Tampa Bay, he completely turned around the Bucs’ running game, and that element was a catalyst behind the offense’s overall success. Coen will look to do the same in Jacksonville, and while it’s only one game, he’s off to a great start in doing so.
