WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW women’s soccer concluded the non-conference portion of the 2025 season with a 2-0 loss against Western Carolina on Friday night at UNCW Soccer Stadium. 

UNCW fell to 4-3-1 overall while Western Carolina improved to 4-3-2.

After an evenly matched first half, the Catamounts broke the scoreless tie in the 61st minute on Sofia Goclowski’s strike from the left side of the penalty area.

Western Carolina extended its lead to two in the 72nd minute on a goal the six-yard box by Ava Robitaille, following a corner kick.

The Seahawks had a pair of chances late in the second half, but both shot attempts hit the crossbar. UNCW finished the match with an 11-9 edge in shots while both teams tallied three shots on goal.

Kayla Adams, Ava Chuderewicz and Hailey Longwell each tallied two shots in the match for the Seahawks.

UNCW will begin Coastal Athletic Association play on the road against Northeastern on Sept. 18 and Monmouth on Sept. 21. The Seahawks are 3-0-1 in away matches this season.
