The Toronto Blue Jays plan to promote 2024 first-round pick Trey Yesavage from Triple-A Buffalo, MLB.com’s Keegan Matheson confirms.
The right-hander is expected to join the club before the Blue Jays wrap up a three-game set against the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday. The team has yet to officially add him to the expanded 28-man roster, and it is currently unknown whether he will be activated either for the series finale, or Monday’s game against the Kansas City Royals.
Yesavage is the Blue Jays’ top prospect and the 25th-ranked prospect across the major leagues, according to MLB Pipeline.
The 22-year-old was drafted 20th overall by the team last June and spent this season pitching across four levels of the minors, compiling a 3.12 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 160 strikeouts over 98.0 innings pitched.
In six appearances (four starts) with the Bisons, the 6-foot-4 hurler has recorded a 3.63 ERA and 26 strikeouts over 17.1 innings.
