Chatham’s Bridget Carleton had two points, three rebounds and three assists Sunday in the Minnesota Lynx’s 101-72 playoff win over the Golden State Valkyries in Minneapolis.

The top-seeded Lynx shot 51.5 per cent from the floor and 41.7 per cent from three-point range.
They’ll try to complete a sweep of the best-of-three WNBA quarter-final Wednesday when they visit San Jose, Calif., for Game 2.
If necessary, Game 3 will be Friday in Minneapolis.
Jordan leads Hawks with three TDs
Chatham’s Ethan Jordan had another big game Saturday with eight catches for 177 yards and three touchdowns in the No. 1 Laurier Golden Hawks’ 41-19 win over the Waterloo Warriors in Waterloo.
The three-time all-Canadian receiver tied Laurier’s single-game record for touchdown catches. Cal Wither threw all three TDs.
“He’s special,” Laurier head coach Michael Faulds said. “It’s nice to see the rapport him and Cal have gained over these quick four weeks. Ethan continues to impress everyone. I know every team knows that No. 4 is going to get the ball, so that makes it even more impressive.”

Jordan’s longest TD went for 88 yards, a new personal best. He’d set his record a week earlier with an 81-yard catch.
Jordan leads U Sports football with six touchdown catches. He’s third in catches (33) and receiving yards (542) after four games.
Blades blank Wild in season opener
Jake Vancoillie had a 13-save shutout Sunday in the Blenheim Blades’ 9-0 win over the Walpole Island Wild in the Provincial Junior Hockey League’s Stobbs Division.
Blain Bacik, Casey Tellier, Ethan Waddick and Nelson DeKoning each had a goal and two assists in the Blades’ season opener before 415 fans at Blenheim Memorial Arena.
Braden Twigg, Tyler Trealout, Brett Stonehouse, Everitt Swayze and Stefan Jacobs also scored.
Nicholas Jeranian made 37 saves for the Wild (0-3-0-0).

On Saturday, Nate Harris scored and Jackson Sterling made 31 saves in the Wild’s 4-1 loss to the Flags in Mooretown.
The Wild host the Lakeshore Canadiens Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Walpole Island and the Blades Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Wallaceburg.
The Blades also host the Flags Sunday at 7 p.m.
Kings, Sharks lose in PJHL Stobbs
Cameron Graham scored and Griffyn Taylor made 34 saves Friday in the Dresden Kings’ 2-1 loss to the Essex 73’s in the PJHL’s Stobbs Division.
The defending champion 73’s rallied with two second-period goals before 225 fans at the Ken Houston Memorial Agricultural Centre.
Also Friday, Brendan Gouin and Gavin Wasylyk scored in the Wheatley Omstead Sharks’ 4-2 loss to the Canadiens in Lakeshore. Adam Flanagan made 24 saves.

The Sharks (1-1-0-0) host the Amherstburg Admirals Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
The Kings (1-1-0-0) host the 73’s again Friday at 7:30 p.m. and visit Amherstburg Saturday.
Buxton Speedway crowns champions
CJ Field (Late Models), Steve Shaw (Thunder Stocks), Brad McLeod (Modifieds), Steve Delisle (Mini Stocks) and Mark Phelan (Mini Mods) celebrated season championships Saturday at Buxton Speedway.
The feature race winners were Field, Greg Belyea (Modifieds), Nick Cameron (Thunder Stocks), John Lubeck (Mini Stocks) and Marshall Hereygers (Mini Mods).
Jackfish celebrate IBL championship
The Welland Jackfish are Intercounty Baseball League champions for the second time in three years.
The top-seeded Jackfish beat the Barrie Baycats 15-5 Sunday in Welland to take the best-of-seven Dominico Cup final in five games.
LKSSAA football begins Wednesday
The LKSSAA senior football season kicks off Wednesday when Wallaceburg visits Lambton Central at 4 p.m.
On Thursday, Ursuline hosts Northern 3:45 p.m. and Chatham-Kent visits Great Lakes at 4 p.m.
Ursuline, Chatham-Kent, Northern and St. Patrick’s are in the AAA division. Wallaceburg, Lambton Central and Great Lakes are in the AA division.
Teams play each other once during their six-game schedules.
Northern and Great Lakes are the defending champions.
