Ken Rosenthal, a veteran MLB reporter for The Athletic and Fox Sports, is apologizing for his postgame incident with a Milwaukee Brewers team photographer.

A video of Rosenthal nearly tripping over the team photographer during a postgame Gatorade bath celebration went viral on social media.

MLB fans accused Rosenthal of classless behavior, as the team photographer did not do anything wrong.

Ken Rosenthal is sorry.

The 62-year-old MLB reporter, who covers the game for The Athletic and Fox Sports, was accused of “classless” behavior by fans over the weekend. Rosenthal was covering the Milwaukee Brewers vs. St. Louis Cardinals game for FOX on Saturday night. After the Brewers walked off the Cardinals, 9-8, Rosenthal did a postgame interview on the field with Brewers shorstop Andruw Monasterio.

When Rosenthal saw that Brewers players were about to dump Gatorade all over their shortstop in celebration, he tried to get out of the way. He stumbled over the Brewers’ team photographer, who was standing right behind him. As the Brewers’ team photographer was knocked down to the ground, Rosenthal appeared to look at him in disgust. He did not help him get up, either.

Video of the moment quickly went viral.

“I’ve come to learn over the past couple years from clips of his podcast, his on field interviews, etc that he is kinda sneaky very full of himself and thinks people watch baseball for him, so this kinda doesn’t surprise me, trying not to fully jump to conclusions but…lol,” one fan wrote.

One fan added: “Dude, go over reach down give him a hand and help the man up. Who the hell knocks someone over, shows no remorse, then shakes their head at him?!”

Another wrote: “How is this normal human behavior?? If you accidently run into someone and turn around and see the person on their back on the ground you quickly offer them an apology and help them up & maybe laugh with them.. you don’t glare at them like this and walk away.. what the HECK?”

Ken Rosenthal has apologized

Rosenthal, appearing on his show, “Fair Territory,” on Monday morning, issued an apology. He said he feels terrible.

“I must admit, though, when I looked at the video, when I saw this, I was surprised at how upset I appeared. I was more confused than anything,” he said.

“Now, I had to continue the interview. We were live, folks, on national television. Couldn’t stop. That said, I felt awful about what happened. Afterward, I went up to Scott (the photographer) who I worked with over the years, and I apologized. And I apologized profusely. Because let’s face it, I don’t think that you ever expect me knocking someone down in any situation.”

Rosenthal said that he looks forward to working with the Milwaukee Brewers’ team photographer down the line – though it’ll only happen in the World Series this year.

FOX has the American League playoffs, so if Rosenthal sees the Brewers again, it’ll be in the World Series.

The Brewers, 91-59, are looking like a potential World Series contender, so it’s possible Rosenthal could see them again.
