BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women’s golf team set a single round program record with a two-under 286 to close out the Lady Clerico, hosted by Oral Roberts University, on Tuesday at Hillcrest Country Club.
UTRGV’s 286 broke the program record of 288 that was set back in the spring of 2022. The Vaqueros used that 286 to move into fifth place as they finished with a three-round score of 882, which is the second lowest three-round score in program history.
Junior Natalia Rodriguez led the Vaqueros’ charge in the final round as she posted a two-under 70 to finish tied for 14thwith a three-round score of 220. UTRGV had two others finish in the top-20 as sophomore Miriam Barcalova and senior Cristina Galban tied for 16th with three-round scores of 221. Barcalova posted a final round 73 while Galban turned in a final round even par 72.
Sophomore Pitchayapa Pungpho finished tied for 21st with a three-round score of 223 after posting her best round of the week with a one-under 71. Junior Preston Saiz finished tied for 33rd with a three-round score of 226 after posting a final round 75.
Southern Mississippi used a final round 279 to take the team title with a three-round score of 861. Abilene Christian’s Ryann Honea won the individual title with a three-round score of 205.
The Vaqueros will be back in action from Sept. 23-24 at the Red Raider Invitational, hosted by Texas Tech at The Rawls Course.
