Former Taco John’s site to become mental health facility

NORTH MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) – An abandoned North Mankato property will be gaining new life.

The North Mankato Taco John’s on Lor Ray Drive has been closed since 2021, and has sat vacant since.

Now developers have filed an application to demolish the building and build an outpatient mental health facility on the site.

The project would aim use Tax Increment Funding (TIF) through the city of North Mankato to aid the $2.6-million cost.

The city met about the project at Monday’s Port Authority Meeting and a public hearing for the project is set for December 1.
