Toronto police say a suspect is now in custody following an unprovoked, daylight stabbing that left one man seriously injured in Toronto’s Weston neighbourhood on Wednesday.
According to police, a man working at the rear of a building in the area of Weston Road and King Street was approached from behind and stabbed by another man at around 11:45 a.m.
The suspect, police said, then fled the area and the victim was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries.
On Thursday morning, police said a suspect was taken into custody in connection with the incident.
Joshua Alexander, 26, of Toronto, has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.
He is scheduled to appear at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre at 10 a.m.
None of the charges have been tested in court.
