An Instagram comment landed Caitlin Clark a $200 fine, the Indiana Fever superstar shared Saturday on social media.
Clark commented twice on a post following Tuesday’s Game 2 win over the Atlanta Dream, writing: “Elite bench mob” and “Refs couldn’t stop us.”Â
You can guess which one got her in trouble with the WNBA.
Clark quoted a post with the Instagram comments in question on Twitter on Saturday afternoon and wrote: “Got fined $200 for this lol😂😂😂😂😂BENCH MOB WILL BE EVEN MORE ROWDY TOMORROW LETS GOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! @IndianaFever”
That post was then quoted by teammate Sophie Cunningham, who was quick to offer her support for Clark, writing: “That’s really gonna break the bank for her. Starting a GoFundMe now!”
The officiating was a major point of consternation in Game 1 of the WNBA first-round series between the Indiana Fever and Atlanta Dream, with the teams combining for 43 fouls — 19 of which went against the Fever (two technical fouls).
The Fever captured games two and three to advance to the WNBA semifinals. They’ll open the best-of-five Sunday at the Las Vegas Aces (3 p.m., ABC).
