KSW 110: Grzebyk vs. Tulshaev went down yesterday (Sat., Sept. 20, 2024) inside Hala Podpromie in Rzeszow, Poland. In one of the featured bouts on the main card, Contender Series veteran Mariusz Ksiazkiewicz squared off with rising prospect Sergiusz Zajac—and things ended in disaster.
Just over a minute into the opening round, the middleweights battled in the clinch before Ksiazkiewicz turned up the pressure. He landed two heavy left hands and looked ready to press forward. But when he threw a teep kick, his knee buckled awkwardly, sending him crashing to the canvas in visible pain. Zajac wasted no time capitalizing, swarming with three vicious hammerfists that knocked Ksiazkiewicz unconscious.
Watch the brutal finishing sequence below:
For Ksiazkiewicz (11-3), it’s a devastating setback. The 35-year-old Canadian was hoping to make one final push toward a UFC contract, especially after scoring a knockout win over former Bellator champion Rafael Carvalho last year. Instead, he leaves Rzeszow with both an injury and a knockout loss.
On the flip side, Zajac (9-1) continues to look like one of Poland’s most dangerous up-and-comers. The 26-year-old has now rattled off nine consecutive victories since losing his professional debut. Even more impressively, he boasts a staggering 90 percent finish rate, with eight knockouts—seven of them in the very first round.
