The West Yorkshire Staff Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub was highly commended in the Staff Wellbeing Initiative of the Year category at the HSJ Patient Safety Awards 2025.

The hub was recognised for its training programme, Exploring the Impact of Racial Trauma: The Foundation, which aims to create safer, more inclusive workplaces by supporting staff to reflect on and address racial trauma.

Carlyn Boyce, clinical lead at the West Yorkshire Staff Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub, said: “I am so proud to have led this work from the very first conversations and ideas, through to building the content and shaping it into the training it is today.

“Of course, it has also been enriched by the people who were involved at different stages, those who helped spark ideas, contributed to slides, or shared thoughts in conversations.

“You know who you are, and this wouldn’t be what it is without those moments along the way.”

The programme was supported by colleagues in Leeds and Wakefield, including Charlene Sibanda, Kerry Hinsby, Nabiha Jama, Sarah Warburton, and Tim Norton.
