Calgary police are searching for a woman believed to have tampered with a pathway barrier moments before a fatal crash involving a cyclist last week.

The incident occurred around 10:45 a.m. on Sept. 18, beneath the Reconciliation Bridge near Riverfront Avenue SE.

According to investigators, a man in his 80s was riding an eastbound e-bike when he struck a barrier arm that had been moved into the cycle path. The impact knocked him to the ground, and he was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

The man was pronounced dead the following day.

Surveillance footage from the area shows a woman interacting with the barrier just minutes before the crash. Police believe her actions caused the obstruction that led to the collision.

Authorities have released security images of the woman in hopes of identifying her. She is described as having long dark hair tied in a ponytail with a white ribbon, and wearing a shirt with the words “Peace for All.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Calgary police at 403-266-1234. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers.
