A man is dead following a shooting in Richmond Hill Thursday night.
York Regional Police say officers responded to Parker Avenue, near Maple Grove Avenue and King Road, at around 6:45 p.m. after reports of a shooting.
Const. James Dickson told reporters a male in his 40’s was found lying in the road, suffering from gunshot wounds.
“Despite life saving efforts, he was pronounced deceased on scene shortly after,” Dickson said.
The man’s identity was not shared.
Not long after the shooting, police said they received a call for a vehicle fire in the area of King Road and Dufferin Street. Dickson said they believe the fire is directly connected with the shooting, and that the vehicle belonged to the suspects.
“At this time, we’re looking for at least two suspects, but we don’t have any descriptions that we can share,” he added.

Police do not believe there is any threat to public safety, according to Dickson, and the shooting is being investigated as “both targeted and isolated.”
He added that the male victim is believed to have been the intended target of the shooting, but said it’s too early to speculate on motive.
York police will be looking to speak with anyone that was in the area, and anyone who may have dashcam, doorbell camera, or other footage around the time of the shooting.
Police are expected to maintain a large presence in the area, and a command post had been set up on Thursday night at Oak Ridges Public School at 160 Coons Road.
