BIRMINGHAM – UAB women’s soccer (3-2-6, 0-0-3) battled to a 1-1 draw with UTSA (6-2-3, 2-0-1) on Thursday night at PNC Field.
After a scoreless first half, the Blazers broke through in the 53rd minute when Brielle Rochester netted her second goal of the season off an assist from Lauren Lucero. The lead was short-lived, however, as UTSA responded 10 minutes later with Ava Jackson’s equalizer, set up by Izzy Lane
Both sides created chances down the stretch, but strong goalkeeping kept the match level. Leah Parsons recorded six saves for UAB, while UTSA’s Jasmine Kessler also finished with six.
The teams were nearly even across the board — UAB held a 15-16 shot margin, led 10-6 in corners, and split possession almost evenly (51% UTSA, 49% UAB). Defensively, the Blazers kept their composure despite picking up one yellow card, while UTSA saw two players booked.
Up next, the Blazers hit the road to Charlotte on Thursday, October 2. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CT.
