Bronx, N.Y. – (September 25, 2025) – Led by Liina Tervo’s two-goal performance, the Fordham women’s soccer team posted a 4-1 win over the Saint Joseph’s Hawks on Thursday night at Moglia Stadium.

Fordham improved to 6-3-1 overall, 1-1 in Atlantic 10 action.

THE GAME

Fordham opened the scoring in the tenth minute, as out of a scrum, Renata Mercedes got the ball to Salma Simonin.  She quickly put a through ball to Liina Tervo, who poked home her team-leading seventh goal of the season.
The Rams made it 2-0 in the 24th minute.  Off a throw-in, Tervo laid the ball off to Simonin, who placed a perfect cross to the top of the six-yard box.  Julia Acosta was right there to deflect the ball in for her second goal of the year.

After the Hawks scored early in the second half to make it 3-1, Tervo closed out the game with her second tally of the match in the 71st minute with a brilliant dash into the open field, tucking a shot from 15 yards out under the crossbar for the 4-1 win.
