Carlos Ulberg: -260
Dominick Reyes: +210
UFC Perth: Ulberg vs. Reyes: Prediction
I predict that Ulberg will win via unanimous decision against Reyes because he’s much faster than him and he has a more dynamic striking arsenal. This should be enough to keep Reyes at bay throughout this main event match.
Both athletes have a kickboxing background and this should be a slugfest on the feet. They also pack power in their strikes, but displayed incredible durability in their recent outings, which is why I think that this fight will go the distance.
Ulberg’s best attacks are the calf kick and the left hook, which he can deploy against Reyes to significantly slow down his movement and reduce his power whenever he plants his foot to fire a punch. Furthermore, he can lure Reyes to lunge forward and counter him with a powerful left-hand punch.
On the other hand, Reyes relies on his great timing and counterpunching, which helped him finish his last three opponents. He also has solid jab that he needs to utilize against Ulberg, but should be careful with the counters that will swing back once he fires them.
Carlos Ulberg’s Recent Fight Results
Ulberg was a product of Dana White’s Contender Series in November 2020, as he impressed the UFC president with a first-round stoppage victory against Bruno Oliveira to earn a spot in the promotion’s roster.
However, in his octagon debut against Kennedy Nzechukwu in March 2021, he received a second-round stoppage loss. Ulberg used this setback to string up an impressive eight-fight win streak.
In his current win streak, he defeated the likes of Fabio Cherant, Tafon Nchukwi, Nicolae Negumereanu, Ihor Potieria, Da Woon Jung, Alonzo Menifield, Volkan Oezdemir, and most recently, Jan Blachowicz.
Dominick Reyes’ Recent Fight Results
Reyes was an undefeated prospect when he was signed by the UFC in 2017. He won his first six bouts in the octagon to earn a shot against former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones in February 2020.
But Reyes fell short of winning the belt and sustained his first career loss at the hands of Jones. Following this defeat, he went on a three-fight losing streak with losses to Blachowicz, Jiří Procházka, and Ryan Spann.
“The Devastator” returned to the win column in June 2024 with a first-round finish of Dustin Jacoby before he added Anthony Smith and Nikita Krylov to his victim list with a second-round and a first-round stoppage wins in his last two fights.
